Having just returned from Buenos Aires, Argentina, i'm been comparing the beat and heart of this enormous city to that of New York. This part of the southern hemisphere evokes a mystery and warmth very different than the one i live in. the music is everywhere...in the streets, in the taxis, in your head and then ultimately in your body...impossible to ignore!
Even at 3:30 am, yes 3:30 am, there is a very different vibe. Walking home last night at close to 4:00, it seemed loud and very young. in Bs As, it seems secretive, mysterious, and older. especially since half of the tango world is over 50 yrs. It's a world where dinner comes alive at 11:00 or so and you wouldn't dream of showing up to a milonga before 12:00. Dancing with and among Argentina's portenos is the ultimate experience for anyone interested in being woven into the world of tango. you are invited onto the dance floor, showered with complements on your ability to "follow" and then safely returned to your seat (if you are one of the lucky ones to have gotten a table).
Lessons are fast paced and direct, making it impossible NOT to learn. they are also amazingly cheap costing approx. 50 USD for a private compared to 100 USD in NYC. groups are only 15-20 pesos ( approx 6 USD). shoes are also a steel at 60USD. Here they can be 100-250 USD...amazing!!
Aside from the world of Tango, i visited the charming, small and historical town of Colonia, Uruguay and Iquazu Falls on the border of Brazil. You can't imaging the amounts of water before your very eyes and on top of your head. Coming from congested, emissions polluted BA, going to the eco, unpolluted environment of Igazu was striking.
I have posted my photos on my web gallery http://web.mac.com/caronhm
if any of my photos touch your heart or catch your eye, they can also be available as prints based on pricing from my website www.caronm.com they are not integrated into the website as of yet, but i would be happy to transform your space with a new addition.

well i made my first sale to a really beautiful store—Juliska— in stamford CT. They are opening their first flagship store not only selling my Art on Cards, but exhibiting my images 9' high in their windows. i'm really pleased and flattered.
if anyone is in the neighborhood, they will open the first week in july at 465 Canal st. in stamford. They sell beautiful replica venetian glass works and ceramics. it's all very european in flavor.
tha't my big news and hopefully there will be more to come.
i invite you all to visit my website www.caronm.com and see for yourself how my images can draw you in.
Setup day for the national stationary show was gruesome. it was soooo much more work than i thought it should have been. and after talking to some people i have some idea of how to make it simpler. for one thing i found out that there is drop off place in the rear of the javits center AND all my stuff will be in one place. so already that;s better for the next time. also have the side walls built in a color and then adding the backdrop will be easier as well.
it's all a learning experience and hopefully i will get some orders after all this. unfortunately i didn't get any upfront...but when i get my head back on straight, i will be a bit more focussed.
simplify...my next attempt.
come visit www.caronm.com and see my new pricelist which includes canvas prints and my new wholesale pricelist.
well set up for the national stationary show is tomorrow and there is so much to do. i am so lucky my father is able to help me. he is always there for me and i am blessed.
i'm excited and nervous about taking on such a big endeavor, but i am hoping it launches me into a new, phase of life where my work is appreciated and i feel fullfilled.
i had hoped that i would get support from a man i'm seeing but, that was not meant to be. it seems no matter how we try to come together, he really didn't contribute all the helpful ways he professed to be able to help. it taught me that you really only have yourself to carry you through. it's really you that will make it happen. you can't depend on that strength from others, you have to have it within yourself.
i'm learning alot. it's tough and i'm exhausted, but it will be worth it to have taken a risk in life and change my destiny.
come visit me at the javitts center May 20-23 (sunday-wednesday) at booth 954.
and of course visit me at www.caronm.com
see you there!!
well i'm up late, thinking about the stationary show at the javiatts center this coming weekend and boy, it's near.
i think , no i'm sure i will be okay. just want positive energy around me. i will be at booth 954, if you or anyone interested would like to stop be and say hi. i'm sure by turesday, i will be tired. the first for anyone will be exhausting.
so i need need rest now but wanted to check in before checking out. i need to get better at this, but there are so many details to attend to....
visit me at www.caronm.com
there has been so much about "green" everywhere. i'm starting to think about ways to show my work in that environment. well not only IN that environment. but what materials to print on to work for the environment.
i couldn't have planned it better. i already planned a trip up to Massachusetts when the blizzard of 07 hit right before spring could declare itself. living in new york city, you get cheated quite a bit by the warm climate and usually it is mush before you could blink. not this time. i headed north at 3:00 and by the time i hit CT we had to shovel our way into the driveway. personnally, if it's going to snow, then LET IT SNOW! i love a good snow strorm. not these wimpy ones...why bother.
so i head up north and felt transported to another land. for me it was a relief to get out of the city and the muck the snow was creating. no one knows how to drive here when it snows. and forget getting in a taxi. not only is english a foreign language, but some have never snow or know what to do in it...and they're nasty about it. better off in the subways. at least they run. i know i am generalizing...there are some that are very gracious...for a price. they will charge you double for the experience of driving with a novice and putting your life in their hands....but oh are they polite and gracious.
enough of that. the weekend could not have been better...walks in the snow in state parks, being with my family and finally meeting a man i've been in touch with only by email and cell. how funny life is...to meet a guy who is nice, normal, handsome, and funny. okay he lives in another state, but who knows. life take you in different directions and sometimes you just need to listen to the universe.
so i'm listening for now...
well i decided to enter the national stationary show. this is a big step for me. i'm hoping this will really bring some recognition to my photography and help with sales, ergo move my cards into a retail environment.
i'm really going to focus on selling the concept of showing my prints large with the idea of selling them for architectural environments, like showroom, apartment staging situations, hotel or condiminium lobbies or rooms. you name it i will figure out how to do it.
all i need are introductions and interest. so all ideas are interesting to me. this is just the beginning. i'm very excited. just to see my prints large is awesome.
so anyone who wants to visit, come see me 20 may-23may. you are always wwelcome to visit my website www.caronm.com
on my 1st sale
